Problems with the Current Education System
The Limitations of Traditional Education Systems
Schools will teach math, history, English, etc., and reward those who repeat what they were told. Yet absent are subjects that teach how to think, rather than what to think. When an education program doesn't include subjects such as critical thinking, logic, and reason, it is not education; it is indoctrination.
The Rise of Parental Responsibility in Education
Increasingly, parents understand that they can no longer abdicate responsibility for their child's education to a state-sanctioned system and expect it to produce well-rounded children. While an ever-increasing number of parents are now homeschooling, that is not an option for many, but other alternatives exist that are available to all concerned parents.
Our Mission at the Greenlight Institute of Critical Thinking
At theGreenlight Institute of Critical Thinking, we are passionate about providing high-quality education to all individuals. Our story began with a desire to make education accessible to everyone, regardless of their background or location. We believe that education is a powerful tool that can transform lives and create positive change in the world.
Is the Current Schooling System Working?
Parents understand that preparing their children for the world into which they will emerge is based on ensuring that the child has been imbued with "good judgment" - the wisdom to make the right choices in an increasingly complex and rapidly changing world.
Traditional education, as taught in schools and universities, is based on principles established more than 200 years ago. The social contract was based on the premise that a good education leads to a good job and a happy and comfortable life. That social contract, if it ever existed, has been broken; such assumptions are no longer valid. Educational qualifications have been increasingly devalued, and possessing them ensures nothing.
As early as age 15, students are compelled to focus on a narrow band of subjects for exam purposes. While this may result in a certificate, no one can claim that it provides any understanding of the world and the real-life challenges they will face. This is not new; it has long been the case. Yet today's youth face challenges which previous generations didn't. Social media, identity politics, and a grim economic future have produced perhaps the most confused generation in history. And the blame for this does not lie with them.

A Solution - Broad-Based Education
The Greenlight Institute of Critical Thinking
The modules of the curriculum will fall into

Essential Knowledge

Provocative & Controversial
Provocative & Controversial would focus on mind-boggling subjects such as ‘the UFO phenomena’, ‘energy, frequency & vibrations’, ‘ancient &lost civilizations – are we being lied to about our past?’, ‘the power of the human mind’ ‘and many more.
A New Approach to Education: Equipping Youth with Real-World Skills and Critical Thinking
The reason for starting this school is in response to the inherent problems we identify in modern education. Our purpose is to provide youngsters with useful tools, knowledge and crucial thinking approaches in order to prepare them for the “real” world in which we currently live.
We see young people and even older people struggling to make sense of the world because of an antiquated education system. Parents are increasingly concerned that existing educational models are failing to prepare their children for the real world. Essential life skills, such as critical thinking, logic and the art of conversation are not being taught.
We fully understand the necessity to encourage a child’s natural curiosity rather than suppress it. We live in a world full of information, misinformation and disinformation that requires ‘asking the right questions’ in order to make sense of it, and this curriculum is our solution.
